California Biomarker Tobacco Study

The California Biomarker Tobacco study is a telephone survey of previous participants in the California Tobacco Surveys.  This study assesses current smoking behaviors and exposure to cigarette smoke from household members, friends, employment settings, and public settings.  Participants are also asked to submit samples of hair, toenails, and saliva for laboratory analysis of levels of exposure to nicotine with the goal of discovering new biomarkers that can aid in cancer prevention.  Experienced HSRC telephone interviewers conduct high quality surveys using computer assisted telephone interview (CATI) technology to ensure accurate data collection and data management.   HSRC also manages all data handling, participant follow up, data reporting, and basic analyses.
